This is our final team dinner of the season. Let’s send our state championship qualifiers off to Durango with an RVMTB style celebration

This is the last race of the season – the Durango Mesa Pursuit State Championships. The race takes place in Durango over two days: October 23rd & 24th.

Qualifying For State Championship Race


Complete a minimum of 2 regular-season races.

Top point earners for each region as follows:

  • Varsity: Male and Female - 24 per region (96 total per category)

  • JV: Male and Female - 40 per region (160 total per category)

  • Sophomore: Male and Female - 40 per region (160 total per category)

  • Freshman: Male and Female - 40 per region (160 total per category)

Overall points are based on the rider's top 2 scores. The lowest score is dropped. Points may include the 25 series bonus points for those who complete all 3 races of the series.

*Petitions for an exception to the criteria can be submitted. Please talk with Coach Pfitzer if you are interested in filing a petition.

Earning an RV Athletic Letter


To earn an Athletic Letter in Mountain Biking at Ralston Valley High School a rider needs to accomplish the following during the season:

  1. Be in good academic standing, that is, meets athletic eligibility standards (as previously discussed no more than (1) D or F throughout the entire season.

  2. Consistently attend team meetings/rides (80% of the Monday & Wednesday practices) and other team functions, and participates with a positive, team-minded spirit. Missed practices can also be made up by attending a Jeffco trail maintenance day. (Saturday rides are optional but may replace an absence from Monday or Wednesday.).

  3. ALWAYS follow team and CO League rules and safety guidelines.

  4. Volunteer at least two sessions (approx four hours) at league events during the race season.

  5. As a Varsity or Junior Varsity competitor, race in at least 3 league races within a single season OR race at least 2 regular season league races and finish the season in the top 25% within their division. As a Freshman or Sophomore competitor, race at least 2 regular season league races and finish the season in the top 25% within their division. (2021 qualifications have changed slightly due to the fewer number of races this season).
